BSCTC Cybersecurity Teams Triumph at National CyberPatriot Competitions
Prestonsburg, KY: Johnson Central High School’s cybersecurity teams, supported by Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) through our GenCyber grant in association with the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Security Agency (NSA), achieved remarkable success at this year’s national CyberPatriot competitions.
In their second consecutive year of participation, the teams have improved their performance and earned well-deserved recognition. Previously competing in the Silver Tier, they have now ascended to the Gold Tier, demonstrating their commitment to excellence and dedication to cybersecurity.
In Kentucky, these outstanding teams showcased their skills and secured an impressive victory. They claimed the top positions in the Gold Tier, with one team emerging as the Gold Tier champion. Their exceptional performance earned them a spot in the semi-finals, scheduled for January 19th, where they will compete nationally.
“It has been a pleasure to see this group of students’ enthusiasm for increasing their knowledge and skills in the field of cybersecurity. We are fortunate to have John Robinson and Susie Knott at JCHS to coach these incredible students through an arduous national competition against some of the best students in the United States,” stated Cindy McKenzie, BSCTC Professor of Cybersecurity.
