Parkersburg, W. Va. — Just three days before the West Virginia State Football Playoffs begin they have been postponed.
The Tolsia football team will have to wait a little bit longer before they find out if they will be playing in the postseason after ruling on Tuesday.
Due to ongoing litigation, the WVSSAC football playoffs for all four classes have been postponed. The playoffs will begin after the litigation has been resolved.
A court order to delay the AAA high school football playoff games by one week in West Virginia was granted Monday in Mason County Circuit Court.
An attorney in Mason County sought the court order to delay the West Virginia’s football playoffs for AAA, instead adding a play-in game that would give Point Pleasant High School a chance to participate in the state playoffs.
A statement was released on Tuesday by David Price, WVSSAC Executive Director: ”We are extremely disappointed to not be having the playoffs this weekend. We understand the frustration from all of the parties involved, and we want nothing more than to put the focus back on the student-athletes and their pursuit of a championship. However, we must abide by the decisions of the courts and their timeline.”
