Louisa, Ky. — Andrew Bloomfield scored 21 points to help Lawrence Co. ( 1-0 ) to a 57-48 opening night victory over Morgan Co. ( 0-1 ) Tuesday.

In a low scoring contest the Bulldogs led 23-21 behind 13 points from Bloomfield at halftime.
In the third quarter Lawrence Co. held the Cougars to 6 points to extend the lead going to the final period.
Both teams picked up the pace in the final period with a combined 43 points but the Dawgs closed out the victory.

Bloomfield was the games leading scorer with 21 points, 8th Grader Hayden Perry scored 12 points and knocked down 3 three pointers, Will Lafferty tallied 10 points, Ford Scaggs scored 8 points and Blake Marcum chipped in with 6 points.
Lawrence Co. hit 7 three pointers and went 14 of 23 from the foul line.
Morgan Co. was led by Eli Griffith with 11 points, Allen Justice had 10 points, Gatlin Griffith, Cameron Adams, Logan Spencer and Cody Dagnan had 6 points each, Chance Wright chipped in with 3 points.
The Cougars hit 3 three pointers and went 1 of 7 from the foul line.

The Dawgs will travel to Bath Co. Thursday night before hosting Pike Co. Central on Saturday night.

“… Really proud of our guys for grinding out win #1 of the season. It was a very scrappy and physical game and it was good to see that we responded fairly well to that. Morgan County is a really nice team and will win a lot of games this year.
“…Can’t ask for a much better start for our guys. We travel to Bath county on Thursday. It will be another challenge in the early season, but one that we are looking forward to.”
