Indianapolis, IN. –– Former LCHS star Kensley Feltner and her Belmont Bruin teammates will face Minnesota for the WBIT championship tonight at the Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Belmont ( 26-12 ) defeated Villanova in the semifinals on Monday 66-57 at the historic Hinkle Fieldhouse. Feltner scored two points on 1-1 shooting and grabbed three rebounds in win.The Bruins fell one win shy of making the NCAA Women’s tournament after falling to Murray State 83-62 in the championship game of the MVC tournament.After the loss to Murray State in the title game, Belmont accepted a bid to the Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament.
The Bruins opened the tournament with a 64-51 victory over Middle Tennessee State University at home on March 20th. Feltner played seven minutes but didn’t crack the box score. On March 23rd the Bruins made a last second shot to shock Arizona 81-80 at Home. Feltner scored four points, grabbed a rebound and dished out one assist in 14 minutes of action. On March 27th Belmont traveled to #1 seed James Madison and destroyed the Dukes 90-45. Feltner had seven points including a three pointer, grabbed four rebounds and two assists in 15 minutes of action to help the Bruins to the Final Four. Belmont will be playing for their first ever Post-Season Championship against Minnesota from the Big Ten on national television.
