COACH’S COMMENTS
“… It has been a minute since we have had a legitimate ace on our staff and Boedy Maynard has been that all year. He had a little bit of a rocky outing out of the bullpen against Johnson Central and honestly he didn’t pitch terrible but he wasn’t what he was every other time out for us. He has thrown against the better teams on our schedule and he has been absolutely dominating on the mound. He throws three pitches for strikes, keeps the ball down and pitches to his defense which had been good for the most part all year long. Just about every time he has went out we have won.”
“… Wolfe County came to us last year and beat us with a lot of sophomores who are now juniors and we knew we had to come over here and play well especially after the seventh inning against Johnson Central on Wednesday. That was a good arm we saw and our offense put some really good swings together. We have seen good pitching all week so far. We felt all year that we would have a good offense and hopefully we are starting to show signs of that.”
“… Eli ( Fletcher ) was really good against Wayne. He came out and pounded the strike zone and ended up with 12 strikeouts. Wayne’s record was deceiving they were a lot better than it showed. They came out with a kid on the mound that was as good as we will see in the 15th region. And I felt like we had a lot of good at bats against him. And put some pressure on him and scored enough to get the win.”
