December 19, 1939 — March 30, 2026

Allen Seth “Jimbo” Holbrook, 86, of Louisa, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, March 30, 2026.
Allen was born on December 19, 1939 in Williamson, West Virginia to the late Woodrow Jennings Holbrook and Ruby Smith Holbrook.
A 1959 Lawrence County High School graduate, Allen played football for four years. He also attended Ashland Community College. Allen was a lifelong Kentucky basketball fan. Allen was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served with the 11th Air Assault Division at Fort Benning, Georgia from 1962-1964. Allen is also a designated Kentucky Colonel.
Following his service for his country in the Army, Allen began a ten-year career with GTE in the cable splicing department. He later gained valuable experience doing contract work across several states. In 1982, he founded BH&M Telephone Contractors, Inc., with partners, eventually obtaining full ownership. Allen successfully operated the company until his retirement in 1996. When Allen bought our farm, it was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. He poured his heart in to transforming it by building ponds, stocking fish, and building a hunting cabin for our family and friends to enjoy. Along with this, he had the usual farm animals and always had an abundant garden that he shared with family and friends.
Allen was a devoted husband and father that support and took good care of his family. In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his son Gregory Allen Holbrook; a brother Jack Holbrook; and two sisters Janet Smith and Remona Williams.
Allen is survived by his wife of sixty years, Melissa Burke Holbrook; daughters Kemberly Walsh and MeLinda Edmond; four grandsons; two granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 3, 2026 at 1:30 PM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Ferguson officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Holbrook Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family on Friday, April 3, 2026 from 12:00 PM until time of service in the Young Funeral Home Chapel. Allen’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Tyler Holbrook, Joey Deskin, Ryan Edmond, and Jesse Edmond.
Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Holbrook and his family.
