LAWRENCE COUNTY (December 8, 2017) – People who use KY 1690 in Lawrence County will face extremely long traffic delays on Monday, December 11, due to road work to fix an embankment failure.
The location is at milepoint 8.9. A drilling contractor will be installing railroad steel throughout a 156-foot stretch along the shoulder where the embankment has failed.
Todd Moran, D12 Superintendent, said that work will start after morning school bus runs. School buses will also be accommodated in the afternoon. Motorists will be able to use the roadway on either side of the work zone, but traffic will be stopped at the drilling site for long periods of time.
The work will take more than one day, but after the steel is installed, there will be only brief delays while the crew does cribbing and backfilling at the site.
“We need to get this fixed before winter weather sets in to make the road as safe as possible,” Moran said. “We appreciate everyone’s patience with us during this repair work.”
