STATEMENT RELEASE

WHEELER CELEBRATES APPROVAL OF $100 MILLION AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY FOR FLOOD RELIEF

FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 1, 2025)—The following is a statement from Senator Phillip Wheeler, R-Pikeville, regarding final passage of House Bill (HB) 544:

“Making these funds available today is about delivering real solutions, not just passing bills. When disaster strikes, families and businesses in our hardest hit areas can’t afford bureaucratic delays. That’s why I fought to move this forward—so relief reaches those in the most devastated parts of our state without unnecessary roadblocks.

“With $100 million available immediately, communities can start rebuilding without delay. Time and again, our people have faced hardship, but this legislation reaffirms our commitment to rebuilding stronger, faster, and with full accountability.

“I will continue to stand up for those who need it most, making sure these resources go where they’re needed. I appreciate my colleagues for working together to get this done.”
