WHAT: Anthem Medicaid is proud to be partnering with the Louisa West and Louisa East Elementary Schools in Lawrence County, KY to provide a Drive Thru Readifest at each school for the students in the community. The Readifest for the Louisa West Elementary school will be August 18th from 10-2pm and the Readifest for the Louisa East Elementary School will be August 19th from 10-2pm. Anthem is partnering with the Family Resource Coordinator to provide FREE school supplies including earbuds and a water bottles. Anthem will also provide FREE haircuts to the Haven Salon for the first 100 student participants at each Readifest and has donated 5 Chromebooks that will be raffled off to the student attendees for each event.
WHY: Every new school year presents financial challenges for families who have to struggle to pay for all the school supplies children need to get through the upcoming school year. On average, resources and supplies needed to prepare a child for the school year cost approximately $500 per child. This is not feasible for many low-income families across Kentucky and can result in adverse stress that negatively impacts the lives of children and their entire family.
Anthem Medicaid has made a commitment to improve lives and communities across the state by removing barriers that can impact health and well-being. In partnership with local businesses, public organizations and community advocates, Anthem is looking forward to making a tremendous impact once again by positively touching the lives of hundreds of children and families in the local community.
MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES: Hundreds of families are expected to attend, and media representatives are invited to capture coverage of this initiative to help raise awareness about the supports that are available in our local communities, and how lives are being positively impacted.
