Welcome home and congratulations!
Officer A. J. Cyrus 2014 Lawrence County High School alumnus, graduated today from the 181st Basic Class at the West Virginia State Police Academy at Institute, WV.
This has been a long process for A. J. as the class started way back on January 6. Graduation was originally scheduled for April 24, but due to restrictions from the COVID-19 issue, the group did not graduate until 193 days later.
The celebration will be short lived as A.J. will start work tomorrow, Saturday, as a fully certified law enforcement officer. He will be working with a field training officer for the next ninety (90) days.
We are proud of what A. J. has accomplished during this difficult academy class. Many of the original classmates chose not to complete the extended training. But for those who did, even after several starts and stops of the training, they have a fulfilling and interesting career ahead of them.
If you see him out and about, please say hello!
