Louisa, Ky. — Lawrence Co. ( 9-11 ) lost another close game this time it was a 40-38 defeat against Boyd Co. ( 16-8 ) on Monday night.

Sophie Adkins led the Bulldogs with 18 points, Jada Patton tallied 15 points, Emmalyn Kitts netted 4 points and Abby Maynard chipped in with 1 point. 

Lawrence Co. went 14 of 23 from the free throw line.

The Lady Dawgs dropped to 4-2 in 58th District action with the loss at home. 

Sophie Adkins led the team with 29 points, Abby Maynard added 9 points, Jada Patton tallied 7 points, Gracie Woods had 3 points and Emalynn Kitts chipped with 2 points. 

The Bulldogs hit 4 three pointers and went 16 of 21 from the free throw line. 

Lawrence Co. will return to action on Thursday with a trip to Russell ( 19-6 ) before hosting Morgan Co. ( 8-14 ) on Friday night.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“…We’ve had 2 tough losses this week. No one likes to lose but our girls have learned valuable lessons from them. We are just keeping our nose to the grind and working to improve every game. This tough schedule will pay off for us in a few weeks come District tournament time. That’s what we’re focused on.”
