Constable Paul Wells and Constable Daniel Castle teamed up Sunday for D.I.C.E. targeted patrol and the results were 17 charges for four individuals on one traffic stop.
Mark Baskin of Corbin, Holly Johnson of Webbville, Lisa Bunch of Girdler and John Cornett of Gray were all charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition, Baskin was charged with use of a firearm in connection with a felony and Cornett was charged with being a persistent felony offender. Cornett was also served two warrants for being a fugitive from justice.
The four were stopped about one mile south of Blaine on Route 201 near Raccoon Branch road for erratic driving. The driver, Holly Johnson, gave the Constables false information concerning her identity in an attempt to elude detection that her license were suspended.
Investigation revealed approximately 5 grams of methamphetamine, scales, cash, baggies for distribution, a firearm, drug paraphernalia, as well as marijuana. The individuals are currently at the BSRDC.
Collaboration with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s department during the course of this investigation was crucial as fellow D.I.C.E. officer Deputy Dwayne Bowen arrived on scene shortly after the traffic stop to assist.
D.I.C.E. (Drug Interdiction Cooperative Enforcement) is a voluntary collaboration between the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, the Louisa Police Department and the Lawrence County Constables Associative in an effort to focus individual department resources toward the joint eradication of illegal drugs entering into Lawrence County.
Is the black guy already out of jail? It’s 2:00pm Monday and if I’m not mistaken he is walking by the little league ball fields.
Different guy John, him another young man, plays music in front of the post office, about every day
no he is out I seen it for myself they post on here like the dice ALL IT IS FOR THE Constable to get there name out there and look big people need the truth about what going on it not cleaning up the drugs it jest try to make a name for the Constable
“You seen it for yourself’ did you? So in your mind the Constables are at fault. Here is a more likely story; one agreed to help police in other drug investigations, or it could be for another reason. All I know is the constables did a damn fine job, and are a credit to your county. You however seem to have a grudge against these fine men, did they arrest you for drugs or something else? That would be my best guess, since you don’t use a name ‘lawrence co guy’. Of course I didn’t seen that for myself! 🙂
DUDE, CONSTABLES PAUL WELLS & DANIEL CASTLE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BASKIN GETTING RELEASED QUICKLY FROM THE BSRDC. THERE IS SOMETHING FISHY FOR THAT, AS THE OTHER THREE ARE STILL LOCKED UP AS OF 8 P.M. MONDAY NIGHT.
Well the black man is probably what got them all caught. Lawrence county doesnt have that many black people and when one is around the police naturally think they have drugs. Lol. Maybe a little racial profiling going on with that arrest?
And all I can say for you is “YOU ARE IGNORANT”!!!!!
Keep up the good work Mr. Wells! You give the office you hold the respect it deserves. Pay fools no mind.
Oh Good God! There has to be a liberal everywhere. Because black people do tend to commit drug crimes, that is white peoples fault? GIVE IT A REST!
Umm.. who said that the constables were responsible for the guy getting released?
He probably had someone post his bond, I mean that does happen.
Anyway good job constables and LC sheriff department!
Why was I not surprised to see Daniel Castle’s name again. This man doesn’t rest! Sheriff Daniel Castle has a nice ring to it.
Remember , when they are arrested law enforcement have done their job and done it well. It’s the legal system that fails by letting them out so quick. And by the way DONNIE it was the same guy they arrested. Since ARC has taken over this little city has and is going downhill. I have never seen so many unknowns walking the streets of Louisa and Lawrence County. Just a matter of time.
John, I agree. As a retired law officer from the eastern KY area, people tend to blame them for everything. One problem I encountered, if someone committed a crime, that wasn’t a felony, or I didn’t have probable cause to believe a felony was in fact committed, and wasn’t in my presence I could do nothing, unless they obtained a warrant. Or ‘where was I when they needed me’ as if I could be everywhere at once. People just don’t know or don’t want to know in many cases. A drug rehab is fine, up to a point and to the degree they work; the statistics are very sad however. Is this ARC importing clients from elsewhere? If so, that is a disaster in the making! Rehabs work for few, only those who really want help stand a chance. If ARC is importing clients, as you seem to indicate, those who fail will have no money, so they become members of your wonderful little town, that can be a nightmare! You have a valid point my friend.
This makes no sense whatsoever. These people who are being arrested are not clients of ARC. They probably need to be, but if you’ll notice, they’re not. I’m not totally for them, but I really don’t think our town has gone downhill since they have been here. They are actually making downtown look much better. You all like old empty buildings everywhere? I think our town is doing great right now!
Yes, it is sad to say ARC is bringing them in from all over. All they are is a money making scheme in my opinion. They have a lot of fronts ( distractions). The vast majority of Louisa and Lawrence Countains agree with this.
do we need to build a wall and make the drug addicts pay for it
KAG
I don’t think she would be saying that if she had kids or a family member in addiction. How stupid!
Do you ever have anything sensible to say?
Directed at KAG! Not Citizen or anyone else. 🙂
Wow 👇🏻 Shaking my head.
Wow! Shaking my head was for the lady that said we should build a wall KAG
DICE? Why not just say LC constables pulled someone over that was driving erratically? It says targeted, was the vehicle or people in it targeted? Great job for LC law enforcement. Daniel Castle just wants to be sheriff, good luck. Local media pushing Dan for Sheriff like cnn pushed Hillary Clinton for president.
That justly deserves an OH GOOD GOD!!!!!!!!
Are the also pushing Constable Wells too? Are the two going to co-sheriff? Have you ever seen a UFO?
Am I perhaps sasquatch?
I’m sorry Jack, your point was a valid one. Maybe Mr. Castle does want to be sheriff? The media does do things like you say. I could be mistaken for sasquatch however. 🙂
Well Charles that is pretty much what is going on now…a lot of co-sheriffing and advisors. Few power hungry people finally got enough so they can run things.
The reason they say DICE and not just Constables is because if they use the word DICE each of them can do a few things each and seems like they are ALL doing a lot. Have seem more out of the Constables and City police doing stuff then the sheriff’s dept but sure do see them taking credit for a DICE team effort. Just smoke and mirrors.
Citizen, I am a hard core Republican, but I don’t like your Sheriff (I know he is a Republican)., there is something that gives me a bad ‘gut feeling’? I could see what you say being true. However I can’t vote for or against him. I also think Sheriff, Constable, and anything law enforcement should be non-partisan, like the courts are.
I am a republican as well and I didn’t vote for the sheriff we got. I would have rather seen Mark be the sheriff. Pretty dirty how he got done. Mark was a good guy. I agree it should be non-partisan. I have to give the constables credit they have been busting these people for drugs.
holly Johnson does not live in webbville she lives in laurel co down the street from me she has not showed up for court and walk around free as a bird I guess they don’t want to pick her up to bad even with warrents
