LAWRENCE STATE SENATOR IS CO-CHAIR OF COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WATER AND WASTEWATER TASK FORCE
FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 22, 2019) – The Senate Majority Caucus has announced its appointments for the 2019 General Assembly’s Interim Task Forces. Senator Phillip Wheeler (R-Pikeville) will serve as co-chair of the Public Water and Wastewater System Infrastructure Task Force.
The purpose of the group will be to develop an evaluation process that can strategically target issues and risks within the public water and wastewater systems. Members of the task force will assess current technical, managerial, and financial conditions and procedures to effectively identify the best policy options to increase sustainability and improve the overall capacity of Kentucky’s present community water systems. The task force shall submit their findings, legislative strategies, or a memorandum to the Legislative Research Commission no later than November 29, 2019.
“I am honored to be appointed as co-chair to this task force as it is an area of significant interest to my district,” said Senator Wheeler. “I am looking forward to working with my fellow group members to help develop the best legislative course of action for Kentuckians.”
The first meeting of the task force will take place on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 in Frankfort.
