I woke up this morning as usual to a cup of hot coffee and a couple pop tarts and began the day going through my emails receiving dozens of entries concerning all kinds of subjects. I kept getting notices from the Governor’s office about economic development projects in the state.

Six in one day and it is just 2:26 PM. It happens all the time, maybe not six a day, but lots of them and every time I keep wondering why Lawrence County doesn’t have anything going.

There’s not been an economic situation better than it is now, Beshear says. It’s more wonderful news for our state and I think Beshear is great governor. But, why isn’t Lawrence County ever listed in any of the announcements?

One courthouse insider says the Ky. Power contract for 50 acres of choice industrial land that goes to the county is in a flux.  The land can’t be used because it has been poisoned by the piles of coal and the trucks and other vehicles when the plant was running full speed back in the day.  Now, the public service commission won’t allow anything there because the soil won’t pass the EPA test.

HUH?

Don’t know for sure but there has to be some way Lawrence County can get something.

The spec building  on Rt. 23 will be good but there hasn’t been any jobs announced yet. The school system has been slow to proceed on the new vocational facility but it can be a major part of Lawrence County’s economic development by being flexible enough to work with any company to provide employees.

What we need is more effort by our state representative and the local government.

Here are the headings and first paragraphs of the six emails I received so far:
