Stanville, Ky. — Sophomore Maddison Artrip hit a school record 9 three pointers to help Lawrence Co. to a 68-49 victory over Betsy Layne in a huge District contest Friday night.

Artrip finished with a career high 27 points to lead the Lady Dawgs, Jada Patton added 12 points, Sophie Adkins and Abby Maynard tallied 10 points each, Caroline See scored 6 points and Gracie Woods chipped in with 2 points.
Lawrence Co. hit 13 three pointers and went 8 of 19 from the charity stripe.
Betsy Layne was led by Jayden Jarrell with 14 points, Amari Anderson had 10 points, Madi Collins 7 points, Jaden Pente 6 points, Laci Hall and Kinleigh Martin 5 points each, Karly Williams 2 points.
The Bobcats hit 6 three pointers and went 9 of 13 from the free throw line.
#5 Abby Maynard, #3 Sophie Adkins, #41 Jada Patton and #22 Caroline See helped the Dawgs to a 2-0 start to the Regular Season.

“… Great to get a first big district win. Betsy Layne is a very tough place to play and we were glad to come away with a win.
“…We didn’t have the best shooting night overall but our girls played extremely hard and caused a lot of disruption on the defensive end and we just wore them down. I’ve been very pleased with our effort on that end of the floor.
“…We have another tough week next week but we’re looking forward to the challenge to help us get better.”
