Fort Gay, W. Va. — Too many miscues cost #14 Tolsia ( 3-2 ) in a 24-16 defeat against #1 Tug Valley ( 5-0 ) on Friday at Wilts Salmons Athletic Field.

#1 Dakota Blackburn puts pressure on the Panther QB to force an incomplete pass.

Tug Valley led 10-0 before Robert Evans connected with Zach Ratcliffe for a 52 yard touchdown and then added the two point conversion to make it 10-8.

The Panthers led 17-8 at halftime and extended the lead to 24-8 in the third quarter.

#10 Luke Williamson behind center on a big third down play versus Tug Valley.

The Rebels made it 24-16 when Luke Williamson scrambled on 4th down and found Bray Mollette who found his way into the end zone on a 3 yard touchdown and Dakota Blackburn added the 2 point conversion with 4:45 left in the third quarter.

#88 Bray Mollette swallows up the Panther ball carrier.

Robert Evans was the leading rusher for the Rebels with 139 yards on 29 attempts, Bray Mollette had 43 yards on 10 carries, Dakota Blackburn rushed 2 times for 12 yards.

Evans completed 4 of 10 passes for 82 yards a touchdown and 3 interceptions.

Luke Williamson completed his only pass for a 3 yard touchdown pass.

The Rebels will hit the road this Friday night with a trip to play the Van Bulldogs.

Tug Valley will play their first home game of the year against River View next Friday night.

Tolsia Head Coach David Thompson

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… We had our chances but just couldn’t capitalize. Our defense kept us in it but we just didn’t make enough plays and gave them too many opportunities with turnovers to overcome against a good ball club.”

“… Awesome atmosphere to be involved in. I thought both fan bases were into the game from the beginning to the end.”

“… We will get back to work and get ready for a trip to Van on Friday. Our kids are resilient and will bounce back. Really proud of the effort from everyone.”
