Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024 (Louisa, Ky.) — Six weeks before America’s most pivotal election in decades with the Presidential race currently in a near tied polling situation, the local sample ballot has been released by Lawrence Clerk Chris Jobe.

Former President Donald Trump has come from the ashes of scandal to a good shot at winning back the White House and his race against Vice President Kamala Harris will surely be the big draw in getting votes out on Nov. 5.

Jobe said yesterday that he has noticed an uptick in mailed in ballots and early voting in the courthouse for those with excuses will begin next week.

In what was thought to be a ‘ho hum’ election a year ago with so many incumbents running unopposed and no county jobs up for grabs, but a ‘one man out’ situation in the Louisa City Council where seven candidates are vying for six positions makes 2024 more interesting at least locally.

The controversial Amendment 2, which will ask voters to give public monies to private schools, has also raised the stakes along with the local question of whether the people of Lawrence County want marijuana dispensaries to operate in the county once it becomes legal medicinally in January.

To request a Mail in Absentee Ballot please go to GOVOTEKY.GOV or call The Lawrence County Clerks’ Office at 606-638-4108. The last day ot request a ballot is October 7, 2024.
