ALL TAX RATES NOT READY, LC FISCAL COURT WILL TRY AGAIN AT SPECIAL MEETING

New LC Schools Supt. Katie Webb along with BOE official Tommy Burns attended this morning’s court meeting speaking about the new vocational building at LCHS which will begin Nov.1, Webb said.

LC FISCAL COURT WILL PASS TAX RATES AT SPECIAL MEETING AUGUST 28, 2024…

The Lawrence County Fiscal Court had a Regular Scheduled Monthly Meeting on
August 20, 2024, at the Lawrence County Court House, 122 S. Main Cross Street, Downtown 2nd Floor, Louisa, Kentucky 41230 at 10AM. Judge/Exec. Phillip Carter was in attendance along with Lawrence County Magistrates David Pinson, Rick Blackburn, Michael Mouse Holcomb and John Scaggs.

APPROVE MINUTES
The LC Magistrates unanimously approved Minutes from July 16, 2024 Regular Meeting with a Motion by Michael Mouse Halcomb, 2nd by David Pinson. Also the August Special Meeting on August 7, 2024, passed unanimously with a Motion by Rick Blackburn 2nd by Michael Mouse Halcomb.

APPROVE TREASURERS REPORT, REQUEST AND APPROVE BILLS
The LC Magistrates unanimously passed the Treasurers Report from July 20, 2024, showing the county is in the black. Motion by John Scaggs 2nd by Rick Blackburn. The LC Treasurer Josh Puckett said, “There is a transfer from the Road Dept to the General Fund for KACO Insurance payments.” (No amount was given.)
Motion by Michael Mouse Halcomb 2nd by David Pinson. Also the LC Magistrates approved unanimously a Conference Reimbursement and per diem for Pruett to attend required meetings. Motion by David Pinson 2nd by Michael Mouse Halcomb.

ACCEPT TAX RATES
Numbers 9 thru 12 on the Agenda were not discussed. There will be a Special Meeting on August 28, 2024 to go over the designated tax rates at one time.

CONSERVATION DISTRICT FINANCIAL REPORT
The LC Magistrates unanimously passed the Conservation District Financial Report. The total available July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024 was $245,059.15. Motion by Rick Blackburn 2nd by Michael Mouse Halcomb.

APPROVE SHERIFFS 2023 GAS & OIL TAX SETTLEMENT
The Sheriffs Gas & Oil Tax Settlement was unanimously passed. Motion by John Scaggs 2nd by Rick Blackburn.

12. Accept Conservation Office Tax Rates – Not discussed
13. Conservation District Financial Report – Motion by Rick Blackburn 2nd by Michael Mouse Halcomb.
14. Approve Sheriff’s 2023 Gas and Oil Tax Settlement – Motion by John Scaggs 2nd by Rick Blackburn.
15. Public Comments – See Video –

  • Schools Supt. Katie Webb along with BOE official Tommy Burns attended and spoke about the new vocational addition at LCHS and especially the new greenhouse. Ms. Webb said construction will begin Nov. 1, 2024 on the $9 Million addition to LCHS. 8
  • Fiveco representatives attended but had no announcements other than offering services to the county government.
