Phillip David “Smokey” Miller, 63, of Louisa, KY went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 2, 2024 at his home.

David was born August 10, 1960 in Louisa, KY to Dave “Junior” Miller and Syrilda Kitchen Miller Dixon. In addition to his father, David was preceded in death by his sister Carol Miller and his brother Michael Miller.

David was a loving, compassionate husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a devoted family man. His family, especially his grandchildren, meant everything to him. David developed a passion for the farm at a young age. He loved the land and taking care of his farm animals. David loved his grandchildren and has enjoyed passing on his love for nature to them. He has taught them how to be at peace on the tractor since they were born. After retiring from the railroad after 39 years, he spent his free time farming, fishing, hunting, beekeeping, and gardening.

Survivors include his wife Mary Miller; son Brandon (Alisha Evans) Miller; grandchildren Kaiden Miller and Mason Miller; mother Syrilda Dixon; siblings Mary Rahall and Harold Miller; father and mother in law Eugene and Lillie Horton; nieces and nephews Teresa Combs, Lisa (Mark) Caldwell, Andrew Miller, and Brian (Carrie) Combs; friends Jerry Hammonds, Lynwood Campbell and Greg Thompson “Big Time” and so many, many very special railroad brothers whom he loved dearly.

The family would like to thank their neighbors, The Allen Family, Brian Davidson, Bobby Daniels and family, Preacher Lynwood Campbell, Jerry Hughes, KDMC Chaplain Keith Sargent, very special doctor Dr. A. Gaing, and their friends for all the prayers, love and care that has been shown to them.

To honor David’s memory and his love of children, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Shriners Hospitals. These may be made online or at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 12:30 PM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lynwood Campbell officiating. Burial will follow on the Miller Family Farm.

Friends may visit the family on Monday, August 5, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Young Funeral Home.

Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Miller and his family.
