Crews will begin the first stage of operations Tuesday, July 16, near mp 7.4 (Bishop Knob) and continue through mile point 14.1(Carter County Line). Operations will include a process called chip seal, which will cover the pavement with an oil and gravel sealant and then finish with a micro-surface asphalt mixture. The sealant process must cure for one week before applying the final surfacing. During the curing phase, motorists will need to use extra caution as the riding surface will be rough in texture. A 25mph speed limit will be posted in the work zone. Operations will occur from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. over the next two weeks. Schedules are subject to weather conditions.

Motorists will need to plan ahead for delays and seek alternate routes during peak travel times. Onsite Flaggers will control traffic.

Strawser Construction has been contracted to perform the work. Please watch for signage and crew in the work zone.
