Lawrence County native William Lampert begins tenure on Eastern Kentucky University Board of Regents

Richmond, KY (July 1, 2024) – Lawrence County native William Lampert has begun his tenure as a member of Eastern Kentucky University’s Board of Regents.

“To serve in such a position is an honor and a blessing,” said Lampert. “It would not have been possible if not for the countless number of people who supported and placed their faith in me throughout my time here at Eastern.”

Lampert is the 68th Student Body President elected by his peers to serve as the leader of student governance at Eastern. In this role, Lampert will serve as a voting member of the university’s Board of Regents, the highest decision making body of the institution. Lampert will also serve as the chief executive officer of Eastern’s Student Government Association (SGA). Having celebrated its 70th anniversary this past March, the Association is the oldest continuous student organization on campus.

“The responsibility of representing the voice of over 15,000 students is not a duty I take lightly,” Lampert said. “Eastern is currently positioned for one of its greatest periods of growth in many years. For the student body, this means that we have the unique ability to make a true difference in the college experience for thousands of students. With over 65% of the student body at Eastern being first generation college students, coming from a low income background, or both, Eastern is the greatest school for opportunity available to those desiring higher education in our commonwealth.”

He is the son of William and Christina (Robinette) Lampert, and graduated from Lawrence County High School in 2021. Lampert is currently a senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in history with a minor in political science. He has been a member of the student government for the past three years, previously serving as Clerk of the Student Senate, Executive Secretary, and Administrative Vice President. He is also a former captain and competitor of the EKU Mock Trial team, current member of the Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society, and works as a communications intern for Kentucky House Speaker David Osborne. He was also elected as Vice Chair of the Kentucky Board of Student Body Presidents. Following graduation in May 2025, Lampert plans to attend law school and pursue a career as an attorney.
