Mrs. Sara Lee “Sally” Roberts Whitaker
Mrs. Sara Lee “Sally” Roberts Whitaker, age 87, of Madison, Indiana formerly of Louisa and Lexington, Sally  died on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 8:04 a.m. at her home in Madison, Indiana. Kentucky.
She entered this life on March 15, 1937, in Louisa, Kentucky. She was the loving daughter of Webb and Thelma Lucille Ball Roberts. She was a graduate of Louisa High School in Louisa, Kentucky. She then attended Morehead State and received her bachelor’s in education and received her master’s from Indiana University.
She was united in marriage on December 22, 1960, in Osgood, Indiana to Arlie B. Whitaker. This happy union of 48 years was blessed with three sons, Tony, Todd and Tim. She was a loving wife, devoted mom and grandma. She taught school for 27 years and began her career at Moores Hill and then taught at Sunman Schools for ten years. Sally’s last 17 years was spent teaching at Madison Consolidated and she focused on home economics and child development. She also enjoyed discussing marriage and helping older students learn to help the younger students and to help develop preschool programs.
Sally loved to sew, swim, crafting, loved helping others, and loved to volunteer at the Veterans home when Arlie was a patient there. Sally resided in Lexington for a number of years and attended the Rosemont Baptist Church there until she returned to Madison to be near her children. She enjoyed membership in the Gardenside Homemakers Club, Delta Kappa Gamma for over 50 years and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Madison. Sally  died on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 8:04 a.m. at her home in Madison, Indiana.
A LOVING FAMILY
Sally will be missed by her loving sons, Tony Whitaker and his wife, Julie of French Lick, Indiana, Todd Whitaker and his wife, Michelle of Tampa, Florida, Tim Whitaker and his wife, Amy of Madison, Indiana; her adoring grandchildren, Morgan (Matt), Hunter, Braden, Nicholas, Tucker, Ellie Sara and Ruth; her sisters, Linda Dahlman of Melbourne, Florida, Mary June McBride and Doshia Van Hoose both of Lexington, Kentucky; her sisters in law, Renavae “Peg” Adams of Madison, Indiana, Wanda Whitaker of Lexington, Kentucky; her brothers in law, Tom Whitaker and his wife, Marion n of Calhoun, Georgia, Robert Crum of Louisa, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Webb  Roberts, died May 22, 1972, her mother, Thelma Lucille Ball Roberts, died June 20, 2002, her beloved husband of 48 years, Arlie B. Whitaker, died October 21, 2008, her sisters, Maxine “Mackie” Lucille Crum, died September 6, 2023, Lora “Cookie” Reynolds, died August 4, 2011, Martha “Marty” Frances Thompson, died September 30, 2023, her brothers, Willis Donald Roberts, died in May 1984 and Freeman Webb Roberts.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive Madison, Indiana.  Interment will follow in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont, Indiana.
VISITATION
Friends may visit Tuesday, May 7, 2024  from  4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS
 Memorial contributions may be made to the Thomson Hodd Veterans Center or the Alzheimer’s Association or Calvary Baptist Church.  Cards are available at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centres of Madison and Hanover. Online condolences, remembrances, and memorials can be left at www.morgan-nay.com
