PERRY COUNTY, KENTUCKY COMMONWEALTH ATTORNEY ARRESTED ON UNUSUAL FEDERAL WIRE FRAUD CHARGESTATE PROSECUTOR STANDS ACCUSED OF PROVIDING FAVORABLE TREATMENT FOR CRIMINAL DEFENDANTS IN EXCHANGE FOR DRUGS AND SEX

LAW ENFORCEMENT PROSECUTOR OFFICIAL FINDS HIMSELF ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE LAW-THAT OF UNCLE SAM: SCOTT BLAIR, 51, WHO IS THE PERRY COUNTY, KENTUCKY COMMONWEALTH ATTORNEY, WAS ARRESTED ON FRIDAY, APRIL 12, AFTER HE WAS CHARGED IN FEDERAL COURT WITH WIRE FRAUD, INVOLVING OFFERING HELP FOR DEFENDANTS IN CRIMINAL CASES IN EXCHANGE FOR DRUGS AND SEX IN MESSAGING ON FACEBOOK.

The Perry County, Kentucky commonwealth’s attorney has been arrested after being accused of using his position to obtain sex and drugs from defendants his office was prosecuting.

Scott Blair, 51, was charged in federal court with one count of honest services wire fraud. A legal affidavit filed by the investigating officer alleged that Scott Blair would communicate with criminal defendants over Facebook Messenger and that he would offer to help them in exchange for meth or sexual favors.

Federal investigators obtained a search warrant for Facebook to provide Scott Blair’s message history. During a review of the messages, they identified five victims who Blair allegedly pressured to provide him with meth or sexual favors.

One of the victims later interviewed by federal investigators said that he was initially given probation and drug court in exchange for providing Scott Blair with sexual favors. However, he said he later became uncomfortable with the arrangement and began to refuse Scott Blair’s demands, at which time he was terminated from drug court and sent back to jail.

Scott Blair was arrested around noon on Friday, April 12, and he was taken to and lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center in London, KY. Scott Blair is scheduled to answer the charges in U.S. District Court in London on Monday, April 15.
