Louisa, Ky. — For the third time in five years Lawrence Co. High Boys Basketball Head Coach Chandler Thompson has been named the ’15th Region Coach of the Year’ by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches.

Thompson is in his fifth season at LCHS and has a record of 98-52. He also won the award in 2020 and 2022 along with this season.

The Dawgs are 22-6 this season heading into the post-season which begins Tuesday at Prestonsburg. Lawrence Co. earned the #1 seed in the upcoming 58th District tournament.

Lawrence Co. Head Coach Chandler Thompson

“… I am honored and blessed to have my name mentioned alongside the really good coaches on that list. I truly feel like this team would make any coach look good. It is not about me at all, our kids and assistant coaches deserve all the credit in the world. I have been blessed with a great group and I am thankful to be their coach.”

“… When you mention winning it 3 times in 5 years, I’d simply credit that to the kids that I have been fortunate enough to coach throughout that timeframe and our staff that has been together that whole time. I’m proud of where our program is right now and it is my hope that we can continue to build on that moving forward!”
