The Boyd County Sheriff Office says they have arrested three people from Laurel County, Kentucky; after disrupting a contraband shipment to Ashland.
Boyd County deputies say they disputed what investigators believe was an attempted contraband delivery near the minimum security Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Ashland, during the early morning hours Thursday, October 8.
The deputies say they were performing an extra patrol of the Boyd County Dog Park when they noticed a suspicious vehicle within the park, with the location of it sitting adjacent to the outside grounds of FCI-Ashland.
The deputies said they found three men in the vehicle, who were identified as James Chadwell, Tony Ramos, and James Collins, all of the London, Kentucky area.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the finding of numerous items of suspected contraband, including packaged crystal methamphetamine, cannabis, tobacco products, cell phones, alcohol, deputies say.
All three men were arrested and charged with:
*PROMOTING CONTRABAND – 1ST DEGREE;
*POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE (METHAMPHETAMINE);
*DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS.
All three are currently being held in the Boyd County Detention Center in Catlettsburg, where all three men were each denied bond.
