RESCHEDULED Embankment Repair Project on KY 3395 in Lawrence County
Work now scheduled to start July 27, 2026
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (July 20, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 12 advises motorists of an upcoming temporary road closure on KY 3395 (Isaac Park Road) in Lawrence County for an emergency embankment repair project. This project was orginaly scheduled to begin on July 21, however it has been rescheduled to July 27.
Beginning Monday, July 27, contractor GeoStabilization International (GSI) will repair an embankment failure located approximately 0.40 miles west of U.S. 23 and 0.90 miles east of KY 32.
Due to the narrow width of the roadway and the nature of the repair, KY 3395 will be fully closed to all traffic for the duration of the project.

Motorists should follow the posted detour routes:
- West of the closure: Use KY 3395 to KY 32, then KY 32 to U.S. 23.
- East of the closure: Access KY 3395 via U.S. 23.
Advance warning signs, portable message boards, barricades, and barrels will be in place prior to the closure to notify motorists of the upcoming traffic changes.
KYTC reminds motorists to plan ahead, follow posted detours, and use caution when traveling near work zones. All work is weather dependent and schedules may change if conditions warrant.

RESCHEDULED Culvert Replacement on KY 581 in Johnson County
One-Day Closure Planned for Tuesday, July 21 has been changed to Thursday, July 23
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (July 16, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 12 advises motorists of an upcoming temporary road closure on KY 581 (Tutor Key) in Johnson County for a culvert replacement project.
Beginning Thursday, July 23, KYTC maintenance crews will replace a culvert located beneath the roadway at mile point 2.8, just before the Johnson County Garage Road and Homestead Estates. Crews will cut across all lanes for the replacement resulting in a full closure on KY 581 at the project site.

- Work Begins: Thursday, July 23, 2026 (weather permitting)
- Closure Time: Beginning at 7:30 a.m. until work is completed, with reopening anticipated by approximately 7:00 p.m., barring unforeseen conditions.
Motorists should plan ahead and use alternate routes while the roadway is closed. Available detours include:
- Whippoorwill Road to U.S. 23
- KY 993 to U.S. 23
- KY 3224 to U.S. 23
Advance warning signs will be installed prior to the closure, and barricades and barrels will be in place at the work site to direct traffic.
KYTC reminds motorists to slow down, obey all posted signs, and avoid the work area if possible. While crews will work to complete the replacement as quickly as possible, the schedule is weather dependent and may change if conditions warrant.
