Blackburn averaged 12.5 points per game, 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest and helped the Rebels to the Semifinals of the Class A Region tournament. He also shot 70% from the free throw line and was top ten in the state for made free throws.

Blackburn was a four year player for the Rebels and had to carry a big chunk of the scoring and become more of a leader during his senior campaign after some key departures from the previous season.

“… I’m very excited to move onto the next level and thankful for the opportunity that Coach Cornett is giving me. I want to thank my mom and dad along with family, coaches, teammates and anybody else who has hand in my development.”

“… When I went up there everybody made me feel welcome, like I was already part of the team. They all treated me well, I really liked the campus and I thought it suited me perfectly.”

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… I’m really proud of Dakota, sometimes we get wrapped up in wins, losses and stats and forget what a remarkable young man he is. I watched him play as an 8th grader and was impressed and we have butted heads quite a few times over his high school career but I’m seen him develop his game and grow into a fine young man who also gets it done in the classroom. And that is the most important thing, I’m happy he is pursuing is athletic career and going to get an education as well. Glad his parents let me coach him.”
