Regarding a circulating post:
This event (Brynnley Caudill Fundraiser – public event hosted at Main Street Park yesterday, May 16th) was for a young lady who is one of my junior firefighters. She had battled cancer at a young age, the treatment destroyed her kidneys, therefore resulting in the need for a kidney transplant.
At the request of the family, they asked that there be no campaigning, including myself. At no time did anyone see me on stage, shaking hands or campaigning at all. I did help organize the event to support one of our own. It was all about her and nobody else.
When Phil Carter approached me we shook hands and I advised him no campaigning at the request of the family. He said that was very rude. I then asked him if it was true that all of the county road workers were going to be laid off the day after the elections? He replied, “Yes”. Roberta Cantrell (Big Sandy News) was walking by, and I said to her that she needed to hear this. All of the taxpayers need to know from our County Judge, that the county is broke.
At no time, did I disrespect Phil.
The County road workers were told that they were all being laid off this Wednesday, and they were not allowed to tell anyone. Phil didn’t even tell them himself, he sent someone else to inform the employees.
In the end, I believe that every taxpayer deserves to know the conditions of our county finances. It’s only May and already employees are being laid off because there is no money.
Mr. Carter has requested the Board of Education to advance them 10% now, from the sale of the Community Center, even though the bonds that the school board has to sell to purchase the building don’t even go on sale till June 23, and the agreement of the purchase states payment isn’t due until after July 1.
So, maybe a better question would be, what if there was no sale of the community center, how would the county still operate? We have already paid our taxes.
Where has all of tax dollars gone?
You can guarantee that I will stand up for our citizens and be accountable for my actions, nothing will be hidden, period! Taxpayers deserve to know the financial status of their county.

Re-Elect Phillip L. Carter for Lawrence Co. KY, Judge Executive

Message to the voters:
I am Phil Carter, 1 am a candidate for Lawrence County Judge
Executive, I have tried to see and talk to as many people as I can personally, but I was unable to see everyone.
I want to take this opportunity to ask for your vote and support in this upcoming election.
These slanderous posts and rumors by my opponent are very untrue concerning the layoffs. The county is in good financial shape and there will be no layoffs due to financial reasons.
I have not and will not engage in any mudslinging or rumors.
This is a small community, and I have lots of family and friends and when this election is over no matter the outcome we must work together and respect each other.
To move forward, we must work together as a community.
If you have any questions, l am just a phone call away, as always.
Philip Carter
No layoffs due to financial reasons” does not translate to “no layoffs”. We shall see.
Eddie if what you say is TRUE how are you going to save their jobs be honest?
Only way is to raise county taxes you should run for the school board you would fit right in with them.
Phil has been the judge now going on 8 years and he has never raised the county tax rates and I don’t think he has laid off the county workers like you claim he has.
This acquisition you are claiming is someone who knows he will lose and will say anything to get the votes from the Hoopleheads it might work just look at the President we have now.
I never thought you would stoop that low Eddie Preston. One more thing, your daughter is your biggest enemy in this election.
