John William Boggs, 84, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, passed away on April 30, 2026. He was born on January 24, 1942, in Louisa, Kentucky, to the late Edgar and Marguerite Boggs.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a graduate of Marshall University and built a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant, working in finance within the steel industry and other manufacturing sectors. Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was a skilled handyman who dedicated his time and services to those in need throughout his community.

He was known for his generous spirit, unwavering faith, and serving others. John found great joy in volunteering at his church, bicycling, landscaping, reading, and most of all, spending time with his beloved family. His humor, kindness, and positive outlook on life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

John is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Belinda Sturgill Boggs; his children, Melissa Boggs Turner (Craig) and John William Boggs, Jr. (Andrea); his grandchildren, Alexis Turner, Jacob Turner, Ella Boggs, Arrington Boggs; his nieces, Rachelle Shepherd, Nikki Cannatelli, Marti Marcum, Julia Boggs; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Nick Boggs.

John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his charitable heart, his willingness to help others, and his steadfast devotion to his family and faith.

A celebration of John’s life will be announced at a later date.
