Louisa, Ky Lawrence County Football wrapped up spring practices last week and the big word around camp has been retention for this group heading into the 2026 season.

#8 Mitchell Frazier and #4 Caven Williams going through some reps this spring.

The squad went through 10 practices this spring with about 25 players on average attending with several more playing baseball and running track. And the weather couldn’t have been any better.

The Bulldog lineman go through some drills during spring practice.

The Dawgs will open official practice in the middle of July with a new starting quarterback and a loaded Senior class that is looking to improve on a 11 win season and Region title game appearance.

Short Video of spring practice below…

The group continued to come to work after a tough loss to end the season at Bell County for the second year in a row. The gap is closing between the two programs as the Dawgs look to get over the hump and advance in the postseason.

Senior to be Colbie Prince

“ I think this group has more chemistry in the spring than years past and everyone knows what they are doing, I think we are picking up right where we left off from last season. Once the season ended last year I have done a lot of running and lifting to get ready for my final season.

Senior to be Carlo Chicko

“ I think this group has really put in the work since the season ended at Bell County. Another tough loss that we felt like we really had a chance to win a region title. We have really hit the ground running once we got on the field for spring practice and it has been pretty smooth because a lot of us have been through two or three of these and we know what to expect. I think we are confident in ourselves, each other and our coaches as well. Everyone seems to be excited to put in the work to get better and keep moving in the right direction.”

Senior to be Cameron Vanhoose

“ Man that loss to Bell Co. was tough because we left so many points on the field. We were in there territory it felt like at least ten times. But we can’t change the past but we can change the next outcome. My mindset as soon as I got back was to get in the weight room and get ready for my senior season. I want to get bigger and when I lose that weight from running and sweating I will still be at a good playing weight late in the year. I think this spring we have tried to improve on our fundamentals to make sure we are sound and avoid mistakes I also think we are trying to establish depth just in case someone gets hurt and we don’t miss a beat if someone goes down. I think this group is more connected and more focused on the little details and that makes me more confident that we are moving forward.”

Senior to be Cameron Castle

“ Tough loss at Bell County to end our year, we felt like that was one that slipped away because we had a lot chances to put points on the board and to only come up with six was disappointing for sure. I think a lot of guys came out of the game and went straight to work knowing we only got one more shot at this thing and we better do everything we can to make that happen. We have confidence in ourselves and we know what each other can do and that’s why this spring has been different from years past.”

Senior to be Ty Brooks

“ The Bell Co. loss is one of the toughest of my career, we had one the most talented teams in school history and had so many chances to win a region title. He hurt for a month, it hurt for two months shoot it still hurts to come up short. Once spring practice opened I have tried to be a better leader and teach the young guys that they are just one play away from being in the game. Just like I went from running back to playing offensive line it literally happens that quick. Ever since I was little I told I was a leader and I’ve just tried to live up to that and lead by example.”

Senior to be Caven Williams

“ I think about the Bell Co. loss all of the time. We had so many chances and just didn’t execute good enough to get the win. Ball security is a must and it wasn’t good enough in that game. We have really worked on it in the spring. I’ve noticed more attention to detail and maturity from this group, we are a tight knit group and have been since we were state champs in the 8th grade.”
