Frankfort, Ky The Lawrence County softball team went 1-1 in the Capital City Showcase at Franklin County high school on Saturday.

Jada Patton hit her fifth homer against the Bearcats to help the Dawgs to victory in the first game of the Showcase. 
Patton also singled, had two runs batted in and scored two runs, Emalynn Kitts doubled, tripled and scored two runs, Lexi Crum singled and drove in a run, Millie Sammons singled and Addalyn Woods scored a run. 
Brinley Baisden went the distance in the circle, allowing two earned runs, four hits, walked four and struck out four. At the plate she had two singles. 
Mercy Academy 8 Lawrence Co. 4 
In the second game of the showcase the Bulldogs fell to the #5 team in the state. 
Jada Patton had two hits including a double and scored a run, Addalyn Woods had two hits one RBI and scored a run, Brinley Baisden singled and drove in two runs, Ella Smith scored a run. 
Braylee Triplett was the losing pitcher going six innings, allowing six earned runs, fourteen hits and walked two. 
The Bulldogs ( 14-7 ) will only have one game this week and that will be Thursday at home versus Perry Co. Central ( 17-7 ). 
On Thursday before the game with PCC they will honor the seniors from the 2020 class who lost their season to Covid. And will also be acknowledging former Head Coach Kenny Horn for his contributions to Lawrence Co. Softball.

“ It’s a really good group of Freshman, 7th and 8th graders. They have a chance to continue building on the success of our program. A lot of talent in the younger classes, really looking to see how they progress throughout the next few years.”
