FUGITIVE FLED AFTER ARREST WARRANT FILED LAST MONTH FOR ALLEGED SEX ABUSE INCIDENT IN NOVEMBER 2025

ALLEGED CHILD SEX ABUSE SUSPECT: GEORGE ADKINS JR., 39, OF VIRGIE, KY; WAS BROUGHT BACK FROM TENNESSEE TO PIKE COUNTY, KY., ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 18, AND JAILED ON THE CHARGE FILED AGAINST HIM.
A Pike County, Kentucky man has been arrested on a sexual abuse charge, after he was believed to have fled the area and out to another state.
George Adkins Jr., 39, of Virgie, KY., is charged with one count of
* SEXUAL ABUSE, 1ST DEGREE, VICTIM UNDER/12 YEARS OF AGE; which is a Class C felony.
According to the arrest warrant, the charge was filed November 16, 2025, after police obtained evidence and victim statements during a forensic interview supporting claims that George Adkins had sexually abused a ten (10) year old girl.
The warrant goes on to say that when George Adkins learned the allegations would be reported to police, he allegedly fled the state and was believed to be living in Tennessee. Jail records in Tennessee show that he was arrested as a fugitive in Knoxville, TN., on Monday, February 2.
George Adkins was transported back from Tennessee on early Wednesday evening February 18, and was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center in Pikeville, where he is being held on a $100,000 full cash bond. George Adkins has his first pre-trial conference hearing tentatively scheduled for Thursday, February 26, at 1:00 P.M., in Pike County District Court.If convicted of the charge by a criminal jury at a trial, George Adkins Jr. will face a sentence of five (5) to ten (10) years in prison.
