Lady Dawgs Pick Up Road Win Against Lewis Co.; Host Shelby Valley Tonight

Vanceburg, Ky. —  The Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-3 on the season with a 43-39 victory over Lewis County ( 1-4 ) on Tuesday night.

Maddison Artrip hit 3 three pointers and finished with a team high 19 points, Caroline See added 9 points, Emalynn Kitts scored 7 points, Gracie Woods and Addison Bowen had 3 points each, Jenna Murphy chipped in with 2 points. 

The Dawgs hit 4 three pointers and went 7 of 14 from the free throw line.

Prestonsburg 71 Lawrence Co. 36 ( Friday ) 

The Dawgs fell to 0-2 in District action after the road loss to the Blackcats. 

Maddison Artrip led the Bulldogs with 8 points, Caroline See and Gracie Woods had 7 points each, Jenna Murphy netted 4 points, Emalynn Kitts scored 2 points, Lauren Sammons and Kaylee Spillman had 1 point each. 

Lawrence Co. 59 Elliott Co. 2 ( Wednesday ) 

The Bulldogs held the Lions to one free throw in the first quarter and one free throw in the fourth quarter.

Eleven players cracked the scoring column led by Leah Muncy with 9 points, Gracie Woods added 8 points, Emalynn Kitts and Jenna Murphy had 7 points each, Lauren Sammons netted 6 points, Maddison Artrip and Kaylee Spillman scored 5 points each, Caroline See had 4 points, Addalyn Woods and AB Hayes chipped in with 3 points each, Lilly Fitzpatrick had 2 points. 

The Dawgs made 5 three pointers and went 4 of 8 from the free throw line. 

Lawrence Co. will host Shelby Valley ( 1-3 ) on Thursday at 6:00 before traveling to Morgan Co. ( 2-2 ) on Monday.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Not much to say about the Prestonsburg game except it was not our night. We are still a work in progress and seek to get better every game.

“…We made improvements last night at Lewis and I’m proud of our girls for rebounding from our loss Friday. We are looking to use this mid week momentum into our game tomorrow night against Shelby Valley.”
