Short, Brooks and Fetherolf honored at State Football Championship Game

Lexington, Ky. — At the Class 3A state championship game on Saturday afternoon at Kroger Field three Lawrence County Bulldogs received their District 8 Awards. 

Short, Brooks and Fetherolf honored

Senior QB Luke Fetherolf was named the Class 3A District 8 Player of the Year for 2025. In four District games Fetherolf led his team to a perfect 4-0 record. 

In those four contest Fetherolf completed 33 of 44 passes for 681 yards and 9 touchdowns. He also rushed for 195 yards and 2 touchdowns. 

Junior Ty Brooks was named the Class 3A District 8 Lineman of the Year for 2025. Brooks plays on both sides of the ball and anchors the offensive at his tackle spot. He helped block for an offense that scored 387 points in the regular season and on the defensive line he was a stalwart that only allowed 186 points in ten games. In four District contest Brooks had 12 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss and 2 QB sacks. 

Lawrence County Head Coach Alan Short was named the Class 3A District 8 Coach of the Year for 2025 after leading his team to a District title. Coach Short also led the Dawgs to their first 9 win regular season since 2009 and first regional championship appearance since 2015. 

In the four District matchups they beat Letcher Co. Central 57-47, Powell Co. 43-7, Estill Co. 35-0 and Magoffin Co. 55-12.
