Louisa, Ky. — After taking care of McCreary Central in the first round the 10-1 Dawgs will entertain the 10-1 Rockcastle County Rockets in the second round this Friday at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium.
‘The General’ Luke Fetherolf set two school records last Friday night.
The Lawrence County offense only ran 17 plays and had 449 yards passing and 85 yards rushing. Which is an average of 31 yards per play.
In the win Friday night Senior QB Luke Fetherolf broke two school records. He tossed five touchdowns and now has 27 on the season breaking the record of 25 by Grant Kiser in 2015 and himself in 2024.
He also broke the school record for most passing yards for a career with 4,193. Grant Kiser was the previous record holder as well. Fetherolf broke the record with a 92 yard touchdown to Gray Derifield on the first offensive play of the game.
Fetherolf was 7 of 7 passing for 5 touchdowns and 365 yards. He also ran for 51 yards on 2 carries and 1 TD.
Mitchell Frazier was 2 of 2 passing for 84 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushed for 9 yards on 2 attempts.
Kaden Johnson caught 3 passes for 161 yards and 3 touchdowns, Gray Derifield caught 2 passes for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns, Braxton Davis had 2 receptions for 49 yards and a touchdown, Cavin Williams 1 catch for 10 yards and Carlo Chicko 1 catch for a 3 yard touchdown.
Williams rushed for 20 yards on 3 attempts and Johnson 1 carry for 5 yards.
Placekicker Brayden Queen boots the PAT against McCreary Central.
Brayden Queen was 3 for 5 on extra point kicks.
On defense the Bulldogs only allowed the Raiders to gain 173 yards of total offense.
Carlo Chicko was the leading tackler with 11, Cameron Castle had 8 tackles and recovered a fumble, Chandler Preece also had 8 tackles, Aiden Patton and Eddie Chicko 6 tackles each, Cavin Williams 6 tackles and a forced fumble, Andrew Ratcliffe 4 tackles Brennan Blankenship, Conner Bailey, Ty Brooks and Liam Jones 3 tackles each, Kaden Johnson and Darren Brewer had 2 each, Derek Medlin, Hayden Thomas, Beau Blair, Jameson Ison, Colbie Prince, Braxton Davis, Luke Fetherolf and Cayden Boggs had 1 tackle each.
The Bulldog defense will be put to the test this Friday night against a very good Rocket team.
The 10-1 Rockets took care of Estill County last Thursday by the score of 41-8 at home. Bell County ( 11-0) is the only team to defeat Rockcastle Co. this season.
Hunter Pingleton led the Rockets with 131 rushing and two touchdowns, Isiah Jackson caught 3 passes for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns, QB Caden Lovell was 4 of 7 passing for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns.
On Defense Rockcastle County held the Engineers to 111 yards of total offense and forced 3 turnovers.
Blake Mullins was the leading tackler with 6 and recovered a fumble, Isiah Jackson and Brayden Thacker had interceptions.
Placekicker Phoenix Pitman was 1 of 2 on extra point kicks.
This will be the 7th all time meeting in the playoffs between the programs since 1999. The Rockets are 4-2 in the previous meetings including a 31-28 victory in Mount Vernon in the second round in 2023.
The winner of this contest will either play Bell Co./Knox Central, Russell/Bourbon Co. or Lloyd Memorial/Henry Co. next Friday night.
