17 APPLICATIONS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED FOR NEW BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF LC LIBRARY

LOUISA, KY. — The Lawrence County Public Library Board of Trustees met in Special Session on Wednesday June 11, 2025 at Noon at the LC Public Library, 102 W. Main Street, Louisa, Kentucky 41230. LC Public Library Director Deena Farris was in attendance along with Board of Trustees Lindsay Smith, Connie Fairchild, Susie Chambers, Kim Burchett and Lynn Perry (shown below L to R).

APPROVE MAY 2025 MINUTES
The Board unanimously passed the May 2025 Minutes with a Motion by Kim Burchett seconded by Connie Fairchild. None Opposed.

APPROVE APRIL 2025 FINANCIALS
The Board unanimously approved the April 2025 Financials with a Motion by Lynn Perry seconded by Connie Fairchild. None Opposed.

APPROVE DIRECTOR PAYING BILLS ONLINE (OVER $1,000)
The Board discussed Book and Tech companies are not taking paper checks and are switching to ACH (Automatic Clearing House) so Director Farris will be able to pay bills online over $1,000. Motion by Kim Burchett seconded by Lynn Perry. None Opposed.

BUDGET
Director Farris had comparable Budget totals from last year and this year so the board could see the difference according to the rate. The rate will be set at 10%. (Ms. Farris has been asked for the figures but we have not heard back from her. We LAZER will add the figures when they are supplied.)

DISCUSS APPOINTMENT OF NEW BOARD MEMBERS
There has been a significant interest in becoming a Library Board Member. Farris has received 17 applications and the deadline is Friday June 13, 2025. The following is a list of applicants received so far:

FAREWELL TO BOARD OF TRUSTEES
This was the last meeting for Board of Trustees Susie Chambers and Kim Burchett. Kim Burchett gave a brief speech on her 10 years serving on the Lawrence County Board of Trustees.

2. Approve May 2025 Minutes – Motion by Kim Burchett 2nd by Connie Fairchild. None Opposed.
3. Approve April 2025 Financials – Motion by Lynn Perry 2nd by Connie Fairchild. None Opposed.
