LAFFERTY HAS DECLARED ‘STATE OF EMERGENCY’
INEZ, Ky. (WCHS) — Rising floodwaters are wreaking havoc throughout eastern Kentucky, flooding some people for the second time this year.
“It’s got me. I can’t get home,” Jeff Harless, Camp Branch resident, said.
He can’t get home because floodwaters have covered the only two ways in and out of the area.
“I will stay with my dad. I usually do anyway,” Harless said.
He said warned his neighbors of the rising waters.
“There is an elderly lady up there. She’s on oxygen. If she takes sick no ambulance is going to get to her,” Davis said.
Elsewhere in Martin County, there are several spots where water is either over the road or close to being over the road. Judge Executive Lon Lafferty has declared a state of emergency for so they can get resources from the state to deal with the flooding.
Meanwhile, back in Camp Branch, people have no choice but to wait patiently for the water to go down.
“I’d like to be home. I really would like to be home. I’d like to get to the house. I didn’t feed my dog before I left,” Harless said.
