Louisa, Ky. — For the fourth consecutive year the Lawrence Co. Bulldogs are Champions of the 58th District after outlasting Floyd Central 57-53 Wednesday night in the finals.
58th District Champs four years in a row. Allen Central was the only other team to do it.

The Dawgs trailed 48-43 in the fourth quarter before rallying to tie it up 51 on a Sophie Adkins three pointer which also gave her 1,000 career points.
Sophie Adkins received her 1,000 point ball from Head Coach Melinda Feltner after the game.
Kensley Feltner, playing her final home game at home, made two free throws to give the Bulldogs a 55-53 lead with 25 seconds left in the game. Kaison Ward hit two free throws to set the final score with 7 seconds left in the game.
Feltner had a game high 31 points, Adkins added 13 points, Kaison Ward netted 8 points and Leanadra Curnutte chipped in with 5 points.
Lawrence Co. hit 3 three pointers and went 16 of 24 from the foul line.
The Jaguars were led by Madi Meade with 18 points, Kennedy Harvel 13 points, Jada Johnson 9 points, Riley Compton 6 points, Allie Adkins 5 points, Kaylee Hall 2 points.
Floyd Central hit 4 free throws and went 5 of 8 from the foul line.

Lawrence Co. ( 27-5 ) and Floyd Central ( 19-9 ) will both advance to the 15th Region tournament next week in Pikeville at the Expo Center.
The 15th Region tournament draw will be Saturday at 2:00. The Girls first round is supposed to be Monday and Tuesday.

“… My goodness what a game. We knew it was going to be a battle and was it ever. I was so proud of our girls for making enough winning plays late in the game to secure the win.
“…Floyd Central is a great team and well coached. We’re excited about the 4 -peat. We are only the second team to ever do that in the 58th district. Gonna enjoy this one for sure. We’re looking forward to the regional tournament next week.
