PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — A Mingo County woman who was being arrested on a pair of drug trafficking indictments out of Pike County found herself in even more trouble when authorities allegedly caught her taking more drugs into the jail.
Leona Johnson, 32, of Delbarton, was indicted on a fentanyl trafficking charge in February and again in June, but had not been arrested until Friday in Martin County. As she was being booked in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, she was searched and guards found a bag of fentanyl and a bag of heroin.
Now, in addition to the indictments, Johnson has been charged with two counts of drug possession and two counts of promoting contraband.
She is currently being held on a $25,000 cash bond.
