Willa Jean Roberts Carter, 97, of Louisa, KY went to her eternal home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 10, 2025 at her home.
Jean was born January 2, 1928 to the late John Everette and Cleora (Moore) Roberts and was one of 13 children. She was preceded in death by ten siblings: brothers Joseph Roberts, Jack Roberts, Paul Roberts, Bob Roberts, Bill Roberts, Johnny Ray Roberts, Leon Roberts, and Charles Roberts; sisters: Emily (Jo) Cain and Dorothy Chaffin; and one nephew John Roberts.
Jean leaves behind a close knit family: daughter Pat Carter Webb of Richmond, KY; grandson Rob Webb of Georgetown, KY; great grandson Tyler Webb of Richmond, KY; a son Paul Ed (Judy) Carter of Georgetown, SC; grandson Nathan (Stacey) Carter; great grandson Blane; grandson Steven (Alaina) Carter, and great grandsons Mason and Noah, all of Pawleys Island, SC; beloved siblings Elwood (Mary Ann) Roberts of Columbus, OH and Virginia Roberts Jenks of Louisa, KY and numerous nephews, nieces, and their families. With open arms and a heart full of love, Jean also welcomed Sheliah Harlan and Mike (Wilma) Hughes into her family circle and activities.
In addition to being a loving a dedicated mother, she was passionate about sharing the love of the Lord with others and was an integral part of First Methodist Church. Her favorite work in the church was working with children. She taught Sunday School classes, led the youth group for many years and mentored many young Christians. She was a well known seamstress and often sewed dresses for disadvantaged children in the mission field and costumes for church plays.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 1:00 PM at First Methodist Church with Rev. Tammy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Yatesville Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at First Methodist Church. Eastern Star services will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Methodist Church in Jean’s honor.
Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Ms. Carter and her family.
