Prestonsburg, Ky. — Bulldog Senior Logan Whisenant tossed a perfect game in a 10-0 victory over Betsy Layne in the semifinals of the 58th District baseball tournament Monday at Stonecrest Sports Park.

Logan Whisenant only threw six balls against Betsy Layne on Monday, THE REST WERE STRIKES..

Whisenant retired all 15 batters he faced, only threw 42 pitches in five innings and struck out seven Bobcats. He also singled and scored a run offensively.

Tygar Cavins went 3-3 with two runs batted in and scored three runs, Cam Perkins went 2-2 with two runs batted in and a run scored, CJ Whitt went 2-2 with two runs scored, Colin Howard singled and scored a run, Boedy Maynard and Gray Derifield had one RBI each, Eli Fletcher, Braxton Davis, Brady Caudill, Steve Hall and Max Murriell scored a run each.

Tygar Cavins gets congratulated by first base coach Julius Music after another hit.

The Bulldogs ( 20-10 ) will play Floyd Central ( 19-12 ) in the championship game slated for 6:00 on Tuesday at Stonecrest. The Jaguars beat Prestonsburg 7-3 in the second game on Monday night.

Alex Meadows and CJ Whitt both made nice plays in the outfield against Betsy Layne.

Lawrence Co. Head Coach Travis Feltner

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Logan ( Whisenant ) came out in the first couple of innings and threw single digit pitches and our defense made all of the plays which set the tone early on. And then offensively in the bottom of the first we score four runs to put some pressure on them and take the edge off of us.”

“… We have really been swinging the bats well lately all up and down the lineup. Tygar ( Cavins ) is as locked in as anybody that I have ever coached. It’s really impressive to watch his at bats. Our 8 and 9 hitters were very productive tonight.”
