LOUISA, KY. — The fourth part of our series concerning the whereabouts of our local property tax monies and how they’re being spent by the local taxing districts. We started with the fiscal court, then Louisa City hall and the Library. Then we decided to wait on the BOE, the county’s largest taxing district extracting way more than half out tax dollars, but it’s been two weeks and they haven’t sent a budget summary so we will move on to the County Extension Office this week.
Local Extension Agent Laura Maggard sent the information when asked and below is what she sent:
These tax rates are correct since no changes were made in the tax rates this year in the new 20-21 budget.
still have no clue what they do besides spend a lot of money anyone ?
Mark, my compliments! Most small town papers never do these kind of things. Paying taxes hurts less if one has some clue what the money goes for and to what. I wish our liberal rag (where I live), would do the same, but I wont hold my breath. :). The oddest thing we have here is a liberal newspaper in a HIGHLY Republican county? But hell, no one buys their paper, I don’t know how they stay in business? I wish your paper well.
Charley do you have any clue what they do instead of taking people’s money ?
don’t mind paying taxes if it does some good
