Well known educators join The Millard School
The Millard School (TMS), is celebrating the addition of two well-known Lawrence County educators to their team, beginning with the 2021-2022 school year. Travis York will be serving as Principal and Athletic Director, while Janet May will become the school’s Academic Dean and 6th Grade Teacher.
The Millard School is a K-8 independent Christian school located in Louisa, KY. Here they believe that each child deserves the chance to learn and grow in a joyful atmosphere that nourishes their spiritual, social, emotional, physical, and academic learning experiences through the love of Jesus Christ. TMS accepts and cherishes an environment of diversity where specific tools and guidance are utilized so that each child may discover their God-given destiny.
Both York and May are excited to be joining the mission of The Millard School and together will bring more than 40 years of educational experience.
May began her teaching career in 1991 in Boyd County and, after one year, joined the Lawrence County School System as a 4th and 5th-grade teacher. Her career in Louisa spanned most of the 90s until she retired in 2018. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Middle School Education, a Bachelor’s degree in K-12 Learning and Behavior Disorders, and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Mrs. May is known for her dedication to student success, rigor in the classroom, and love for learning.
“I’m so excited to be a part of The Millard School,” said May. “It thrills my soul to be able to continue to teach the students in our community to the highest academic standards, all while pouring into them the life-saving truths of God’s word.”
Many will remember York from his time leading Lawrence County High School to its first 15th Boys’ Regional Basketball title in 2016. In addition to his strong leadership skills and passion for athletic programs, York is also a seasoned educator holding a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership.
“I’m honored to be able to help create and build new programs at The Millard School. I am excited for the growth taking place and can’t wait to see what the future holds,” expressed York.
School officials want to announce that open enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year has been extended until June 15th.
