CANTRELL ARRESTED WHILE TRAVELING THROUGH NORTHEASTERN KENTUCKY
ARREST MARKS CONTINUING TREND OF LAWRENCE COUNTY RESIDENTS BEING CAUGHT AND ARRESTED BEYOND LOCAL COUNTY LINES
A Lawrence County woman is facing felony drug charges after being taken into custody in a group of four people that were placed behind bars after a traffic stop led to several arrests in Lewis County in northeastern Kentucky earlier this month.
On Friday evening May 7, around 10:30 p.m., Officer Mike Ginn of the Vanceburg Police Department noticed a vehicle without tail lights and stopped the car.
The driver, Crystal Lynn Cantrell, 29, of Webbville, (media reports had mistakenly identified her as being from Sandy Hook) was found to be under the influence of drugs. She was arrested and charged with DUI, having no tail lamps, driving without a license, and failure to maintain insurance.
There were also three other individuals in the car, all found to be under the influence of drugs.
Elizabeth Bennett, 35, of Sandy Hook was also in the car, and was arrested for public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of meth.
John Murphy, 32, of Sandy Hook was arrested and charged with public intoxication.
Michael Pennington, 49, who is from Grayson, was mistakenly listed in media reports as being from Webbville, does have a serious criminal history, with multiple felony arrests in Lawrence county in the early 2000s. He was arrested and charged with public intoxication.
While booking Cantrell at the Lewis County Detention Center, she was searched by deputy jailers and was found to have a small metal container hidden in her body. Inside the container was over two grams of heroin that she stated she got in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Cantrell was then charged with importing heroin and promoting contraband 1st degree, as well as possession of heroin.
Officer Ginn was assisted by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department.
Even though Cantrell was charged with serious drug charges in Lewis County on May 7, she was able to post bail in time to return to Lawrence County 24 hours later after her Lewis County arrest and turn herself in May 8, 2016 to the Lawrence County Sheriff Department to serve a jail sentence with a CONTEMPT charge for Flagrant Non-Support she was arrested for in February by Sheriff Garrett Roberts.
(Cantrell is in the latest new Lawrence County arrest report for her arrest in February seen HERE ). Cantrell has been arrested nine times (eight in Lawrence County) in the last ten years.
Her arrest marks the latest trend of Lawrence County residents being caught on criminal charges and warrants outside the local borders in nearby counties in the last several weeks, and for the year.
