At approximately 4:20 pm on Monday March 20, 2017 Lawrence County 911 received a call referencing a head-on motor vehicle collision on US Highway 23, just North of the Big Sandy Power Plant.
Upon arrival the investigation showed that a 2015 KIA Rio5 driven by Russell Blank, 34 of Gem, Kansas, (formerly of Debord, KY) pulled from the Northbound shoulder 
into the path of a 2014 Ford Explorer driven by Paula Staley, 64 of Sharpsburg, KY causing the two vehicles to collide.
Staley was transported to TRMC via ambulance and Blake was transported to St. Mary’s via ambulance. Collision is under investigation by Lawrence Co. Sheriff’s Deputy Mason Keefer. Assisting at the scene were the Kentucky State Police, Louisa Fire Department, Big Sandy Fire Department and Net Care Ambulance.
No details on the extent of the injuries was available this morning.
