KENOVA, W.VA. — Last night the Wayne County Sheriff drug enforcement unit arrested Charles Brown III, 41, and Carmen Valentine, 45, both of Charleston, while working an undercover operation with the Kenova Police Department.
Sheriff Rick Thompson stated that the pair was apprehended while they were in route to make a delivery in Wayne County from the Charleston area.
Sheriff Thompson stated that Charles was in possession of a loaded handgun and is prohibited from possessing firearms. Charles is prohibited because he has two felony drug convictions.
Brown told officers he started carrying a gun because he has been shot on three separate occasions.
Brown was also in possession of a distribution quantity of crack cocaine, Xanax, Marijuana, and imitation methamphetamine.
He is charged with three counts of possession with intent to deliver, felon in possession of a firearm, conspiracy, and possession with intent imitation controlled substance.
Carmen is charged with conspiracy.
Road patrol deputies assisted.
