LOUISA HOUSE IN RUNNING FOR ‘UGLIEST HOUSE’ IN AMERICA CONTEST
In the aftermath of the Noah Thompson blast to stardom on TV’s American Idol, this small city has drawn attention from another national TV show.
Our friend Greg Fluty messaged about a “good story” for Christmastime but it somehow went to the junk mail and we just found it yesterday.
Greg tells of his experience with the TV show America’s Ugliest Homes where he sent a picture in to producers of his home near Mrs. Keeton’s home on Franklin Street. And he got selected.
He said producers asked him to now make any statements about the show until yesterday but now he can tell the world about his experience — but not the ending!.
Here is what Greg said:
“…Hello, just writing to let you know of a possible story for Louisa! My house and the city of Louisa will be featured on season 3 of Ugliest House in America on
HGTV. They filmed here in July of this year and the episode will air on January 5th. From my understanding there will be drone shots of downtown Louisa and a drive through with the cameras. Just thought it may make for a fun story! If you need any info let me know. Thanks!

After buying my home in 2020 I knew it needed lots of work and I had no idea where to start. After considering the cost of doing my own renovations, I knew I wouldn’t have the money needed for all the repairs.
I began looking at alternatives and came across a casting call for an unknown television show offering a $150,000 whole home renovation to one lucky winner. I applied for the show and never heard anything until a year later when I began getting emails from a casting director about my application. I ignored the first few emails thinking it was a scam but then began getting text messages as well.
I then realized it was a real person and replied. From that point we had to do a phone interview and provide all the details of the home and our backgrounds. After the phone interview, we had to do a 2 hour “casting reel!” which is essentially a very long recorded interview that is cut by editors down to about 2 minutes. This tape was then sent to the network for the final day on our participation in the series.
After several weeks, we got a phone call saying we had been chosen as 1 of 15
homes being featured on the show. We set a film date of July 15th. On filming
day, the crew showed up around 8:30 AM and spent the entire day filming the
home, doing interviews and a lengthy walkthrough of the home with the show’s host, Retta.
They filmed the surrounding area with drones and asked about the history of our town.
Once they were finished thev packed everything up and headed to the next location.
Season 3 ot ‘Ugliest House In America’ airs on HGTV at 8 PM ET starting January 1, 2023. Our home will be featured on episode 5 of season 3 which airs January 5, 2023 at 8 PM ET.
