ELECTION 2024DON’T BE FOOLISH, CAST YOUR VOTE.

LOUISA, KY. —  Lawrence County Clerk Chris Jobe said this morning that more than 400 absentee ballots have been received for the Nov. 5, general election which is coming down to the wire with 12 days to go.

“This is a large turnout for absentee ballots, more than in past years,” Jobe said. “We usually have big turnouts for presidential election years but this if by far larger than last presidential years”

Jobe said his office has been flooded by calls asking about dates and places so they can vote this year. “I’m not going to say that the Trump-Harris race is causing the interest this year,” Jobe said. “But something is driving the voters to the polls.”

Jobe mentioned the two amendments on the ballot beginning with Amend number 1 which essentially adds to existing laws against non-citizens of the U.S. voting in Kentucky elections.

But most interest and advertising has been on Amendment 2 which would allow taxpayer monies to be spent on private schools.

Also to be voted on is whether sale of marijuana licenses to local business.

“Are you in favor of the sale of medicinal cannabis at a licensed dispensary and the operation of other cannabis businesses in Lawrence County, Kentucky?” This is located at the bottom of the first column of the sample ballot.
