FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Nov. 26, 2019) – Significant traffic impacts are expected next week at three US 23 intersections in Catlettsburg as the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet continues a traffic signal upgrade project.
Beginning Monday, Dec. 2, state highway crews will install new signal poles above US 23 and side streets at the 34th Street, 35th Street (US 60), and 36th Street (KY 3294) intersections in Catlettsburg. Work will begin about 8:30 or 9 a.m. each day and continue until finished.
Because crews will be working above the highway and streets at times – each intersection requires two to three days of work – there will be daily traffic impacts for a week or two, beginning Dec. 2:
– One lane of US 23 will be closed and traffic could be stopped 30 to 45 minutes at a time as a safety precaution. Some side streets will be closed during work hours.
– When work is taking place at Cannonsburg Road (KY 3294), expect stopped traffic, flaggers, lengthy delays.
Motorists should expect lengthy delays and detours each day crews are working. With the high-level of traffic in this area, please consider alternate routes during construction.
Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
