COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Mingo come in short handed and had good game plan in holding the ball and slowing the game down taking us out of our offense. They come out in 4th quarter down by 3 and held the ball for 6 mins and 42 seconds. Of course we had the lead and I wasn’t coming out to guard then. My thinking was at best they hit a 3 and we get the ball back for a last second shot and if we miss it’s OT. But if they shoot and miss we get the ball back and they got to foul us 5 times within 1:17 on the clock and that’s hard to foul that many times. So I wasn’t coming out to guard them. We shot zero foul shots that night compared to them taking 13 free throw attempts. They controlled time of possession 3-1 and my young guys still managed to get the low scoring win.”
“… Grace Christian always shoots good in their gym and we struggled the first half and we went in tied 31-31. We went in and made some adjustments and turned up the heat on defense and pulled away. Great balanced scoring Watts had 21, Evans 19 and Ball 17. We had like 17 or 18 asst. if we get those 3 guys scoring like that look out.”
“… Calvary Baptist was game three of three and a quick turn around after the Grace game on Friday and a lot kids didn’t get home till after 11 and we were right back up and playing at 2:00 Saturday. In a rough environment fouls were like 14-3 against us in the first half. I don’t need to say anymore about that lol. We battled till the buzzer sounded in the forth and came out with the win. I’ve preached all year that we got to have some dogs that is going to get in there and get dirty and fight for every rebound and every loose ball. I’m here to tell you I had a pack of dogs in the 4th quarter who refused to let it slip away. I went in at the end of the game and that’s the first thing I told them that’s what I’m talking about you guys were a pack of dogs today and that’s why you won the game. Watts and Evans both had big weeks and that’s what we expect. I really think we have grown this last week into a true team, we had to deal with a couple things this week but these boys are brothers to the end. 3-0 on the week.”
LOVE MY REBELS!!!
